It cannae just be me who does this....

Surely it cannot?

Today I find myself with my mind birling with ideas.
Creative juices a bubbling and a spiraling.
I have a need to design.

So I have all of this out designing a special quilt; my 'Teawagon Quilt' inspired by the lovely Jane of teawagon tales who sells the most lovely vintage fabric (oh and Jane is very cool too, she loves Morrissey, what can I say?).  All of the fabric for this quilt is from her shop so hence the name.  I have been quietly foraging pieces away in my stash for a while now. Once I have enough I'll get going as it will be sewn on my machine and therefore won't take long (I have been sewing the below by hand for months and months so anything by machine seems easy and lightening speed) but...
The ridiculous thing is that I already have three other blankets on the go, two of which are stumbling in the main due to finances. This granny all-square  from The Royal Sisters blog which is shown here as part of the 52mmmc...

which, even though I have a hundred plus pile of, I need a lot more wool to complete it and then there's this...

of which the top is pretty much finished but I still need to add some more white hex's to square off.  This involves counting up all the spaces and working out how many half hex's I need too. There's two thousand paper pieced hexagons on this bugger already but  I  need some more calico to make more hex's which means money. Oh and the batting but luckily I have an ancient (well it used to be on my bed when I was wee) candy stripe flannel sheet for the backing.  This 2.3 x 1.1m quilt top has been a real labour of love and I could have carried on and on, I loved it so much!!

I'm thinking of opening a wee Folksy and/or Etsy shop to (hopefully) make a few pennies to help??? Scottie dog/apple brooches anyone??

I have also started a knitted patchwork blanket from my wool stash...

You know, something for the evenings!

It doesn't seem to matter how many WIPs I have on the go (just about to start this too???) I cannot stop the need to be creative about the NEXT project.  I don't always have to start this next project straight away and I like to have a few things on the go; a bit of crochet, a bit of knitting, a bit of sewing, as I like to be able to move around depending on my mood but when a new idea strikes or there are rumblings of an idea taking seed I MUST heed it and sit down, pencil and paper in hand and design.

Hands up who else?
I see you there, get that hand up!

X

    1. Hey Jo, you found me......i may be guilty of all charges re: littleteawagon. That's why I buy little bits when I see them, before they are gone. xx

  2. I suffer from the same affliction. I've got half a scarf in the corner, half a quilt who knows where and some brushed cotton destined to be jammies any day now hidden in the bedroom.

Must. Concentrate. On. One. Thing. At. A. Time.

    But I can't :)

  3. Yes, Yes, Yes. Last year I managed to just do one project (per discipline) at a time and found it very satisfying to see things finished. This year I'm jumping in to everything. Gotta go with the flow I say.

GORGEOUS hexagons, you've made that so quickly. I look forwards to seeing your new project!

  4. Going with the flow, indeed.
Do you think it was quick Collete? Started last May!! I know I will be thrilled with it and the time, pain and sometimes blood that went into it will be worth it. Quilting needles are scary sharp eh?

  5. No way can I ever see a time when I will work one project at a time. I have two baskets full of the half-done bits and pieces, but the lure of the new is too strong at times! Your hexi quilt is looking just great. I have used old woollen blankets for wadding - I can normally get one labelled as a dog blanket from the charity shop for about a fiver. It makes the quilt quite heavy and really cosy, but I like that! Definitely cheaper than the heritage wadding I'd use otherwise. Good luck with your projects old and new - may the force be with you!

  6. I love the hexagon quilt, I want to do a big one myself, I've just made a tiny mug rug and it took me ages so I'm just syking myself up for a big one a long term project I think. I love Alix's idea for using a woollen blanket for wadding, I like my blankets to have some weight.
Good luck with all you lovely projects.

    1. Do it Emma, I found that you quickly get into a rhythm and it grows really quickly. I had a very good template too that was easy to print off and cut up. The whole thing becomes very addictive.

  7. Your hexagon quilt is amazing... I don't know how you have the patience! Is all that hand sewing the reason you've been so quiet on the blog front? xx

    1. Ha ha Victoria, I really am the most impatient person!!
And no not the reason for lack of posts, I haven't really felt like it, got a bit uninspired and not sure about the point of it, if that makes sense.
How are you doing my favourite crochet Queen? X

    2. It does make sense because I am feeling the same way about blogging at the moment. I contemplated deleting the whole thing the other day! I'm ok, thanks, but finding I'm not in the mood for much crafting... Too many good books to read on my new kindle! X

    3. I got a kindle for Christmas too but Eldest Biscuit has stole it to read Sherlock Holmes ALL THE TIME. Haven't read a thing on it yet.
I thought about deleting my blog aswell...still here though. If you deleted yours I'd never get a visit, most of my viewings come via you you know! xx

    1. The reply thing is cool, makes it so much better to, well, reply to folks.

Aye the brooches, people are asking recipients about them you see, but ah I don't know if I can be arsed with a shop. Me doing anything so 'businessy' is such a laughable concept!
We could do a swapsie anytime you like, though. I regret not getting one of your wee flowery brooches when you used to sell them, or a jam cover or something. I do white scotties too. Let me know. x

  9. Another one here with a lot of projects on the go. I started a Hexy quilt top a couple of weeks ago and love doing them......... however, I have found myself obsessing how to do the actual quilting and binding and seem to spend hours rattling round on the internet trying to work out how to do it all. All part of the journey I suppose................

I love to hear from all you interesting folks out there so don't be shy.
Had to put the annoying word verification back on as the spam was getting silly. Forgive me! Ali
