Blogging and lack thereof...

I cannae be arsed, there I said it.
I think about my wee blog and I just have nothing to say. Not a thing (or so I thought, well because obviously right now I am writing this post).  I could say I have lost my blogging mojo but that doesnae sit right with me either.  I just think honestly I cannae be arsed because really I am lazy.  I like being creative out there in the thing that is the 'world wide web' but I simply have discovered a quicker way of doing it. A quicker way of posting photos and a quicker response time.  My underlying impatience has won out so yes I adore Instagram.  It is an easy fix but, BUT, like many things I am starting to yearn for a slower pace.  Maybe I want to come back to my wee blog space and take my time again.  To ponder over things rather than give into the random, the now, the 'this just happend' or the 'I just made this'.  I love random and I love quick and for this reason I hardly ever even switch on Hortensia (my laptop) because I have an iphone even though the screen is tiny and typing is a serious pain the the below stairs. It's quick and easy and I like quick and easy (titter yee not!). A habit of such things has been formed and you know what? I miss my blogging friends who are not on Instagram or Twitter but unfortunately many of my favourite bloggers (I assume, like me) have lost their blogging enthusiasm also.  It takes way too long to write up a post and I am always curious about those bloggers who manage posts every other day if not everyday.  The whole 'professional' blogger is a discussion for another day but a lot of people seem to keep up the momentum when I cannot find the energy or enthusiasm for it at all.

I have a review to write (sorry for the delay dotcomgiftshop) but I haven't got around to it.  I have been sewing lots and baking lots and knitting and crocheting and holidaying and reading and planning and well lots and lots of things we all do all the time and not felt the urge to share ANY it here at all. It just seems like too much effort and too much time taken up to do it.  *sigh*

So what to do?  Do I shut it down, delete, move on and forget about it?  Do I make an effort for whatever reason to plough on?  Do I do it differently so it doesn't eat into my time so much?  Do I NOT make a decision about what to do at all?

Go with the flow.
See what happens.
Maybe get around to it or not.

Not give a shit either way because in the big scheme of things it's only a blog?

It is not cumpulsary.
It is not an obligation.
It shouldn't be another chore on life's long list of chores.

Presently and for a while it has been a chore.  Something I feel I have been neglecting willfully and with no guilt whatsover if I am honest but I wonder, should I put it to bed and let it sleep an endless sleep or revive it.

I am glad to say I do not have to answer.

  1. My blogging mojo is a funny thing. Sometimes it's there... sometimes not so much. I guess that's why noone reads it! heh.

I'd be sad if you stopped blogging :)

  2. It's been that time of year - schools out - and too much living to be done to find the time to sit and write about it!
That's how it seems to be for lots of folks at the moment, me included, so you are not alone, and as you so very rightly say, it shouldnt be another chore......
Its lovely to read your blog when you do feel like posting!
Hope you've had a good summer with your family

  3. Well m'dearie. Good to hear your wee voice again.
I sometimes hate my blog and how it makes me feel- guilt, inferiority, bad tempered... but I still keep my nose in. Not sure why really. What pisses me off the most is suddenly seeing that someone has decided not to follow me any more after a rather inocuous post. If I was being contraversial I would understand but my boring ramblings surely cannot get danders up? Or maybe that is exactly it. I am too BoRInG.
Anyway honeypie. Just carry on instagraming and pop by to blog land for a chat when you feel like it.
That was long. Sorry. Enjoy whatever you decide, A xxxx

  4. I’ve been pondering instagram....Hhhmmmm....Anyways, great post and I get you completely! I seem to forever blow hot and cold with my blog and as you can probably see have been absent for yonks. I never have the time at the moment and yes, it is a big effort at times.
Ultimately it’s your blog and if you find it a chore and it’s bogging you down then, perhaps, you should walk away....BUT.....Pleeeeeeeaaaaaasssseeee don’t. As I’d miss you lots!
Have a break, put it to one side. Don’t think about it. Long nights are drawing in. Always easier to blog Autumn/Winter time {well, that’s what I think} If you do decide to split {please don’t} then please do keep in touch. xx

  6. Go with the flow. It should never be a chore. Good to see a post, but only do it if you want to.

  7. Oh don't stop. I hear you though, instagram is addictive and easy etc etc versus blogging but I think blog writing ebbs and flows. If you feel that some days are a non starter and some days are non stop, can't get enough blogs out there then welcome to the world of feature writing. You can now call yourself a writer - official!

    Please don't stop blogging. x

  8. I blogged often for a year, and found that it became a HUGE chore rather than fun. I was becoming envious of others' glamorous, pretty, crafty lives when I was totally bogged down with the day to day monotany of everyday life. I deleted my blog, and felt that a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It took well over a year for me to stick a toe back in the water, but that is all it is to me now. No obligations to post, comment or recruit followers. I still have my ups and downs with blogging, but on the whole it is OK. My suggestion, for what it's worth is give yourself a break. If you feel the urge to return then go with it, but don't let the bloggers get you down! XX

    1. Good advice Helen, you know I think I may have had my break from it. I'd quite like to dip my toes in again. Glad you are back in blogland. xx

  9. What to do! I blog to help remember the kiddos whilst young, the idea is that once my youngest starts school full time I will print it off in its own little book. What will I do with it after that is to be seen, it's still a good year away yet...

It depends on what you want out of it, you are blogging for you, not us!!

    I've noticed too a lot of bloggers are slowing their posts down, perhaps summer hasn't been enough of a summer and we're all in a pre Autumn slump?? Maybe the novelty has worn off for many? Real life has taken back over? Perhaps there is a shelf life for blogging {unless its a professional blog}

Whatever it is I need to discover Instagram...

    1. I was wondering about that shelf life thing too. If after a certain amount of time blogging just becomes a chore? You are right though, summer is always a slow blogger season.

Come play on Instagram, I am jammypudding on there. xx

  10. Noooo! Please don't stop blogging! I totally agree with you though, somedays it feels like an effort but then again when I've done it I feel a sense of satisfaction too (us women are such wayward creatures!). No way is your blog boring, never think that. We are all so busy doing so many things (and I am genuinely surprised about the wealth of creativity around us) and at the same time too dealing with the usual stuff (money earning, house up keeping, clothes washing etc etc) that it feels so nice to sit with a cup of tea or coffee and read your latest post. Like meeting a friend I may never have met and having a gossip! Instagram is great (and I'm a total addict) but sometimes you need a little detail such as a recipe or idea or just some reassurance that there are others out there like you too. Keep going, we care, just go at your own speed. x

    1. I think I may have just lost my voice if you know what I mean. Like in everyday life, you can easily doubt yourself and wonder if you should be more like [insert name/person type here]or should you be doing something different. You know things that once you really ponder them, know they are not for you, not what you are. I realise I just need to get back to being me and writing my blog in my own way.

Thanks for taking the time to give me a boost lovely lady. xx

p.s I still want to come and eat at your house!!!

  11. Oh I hear you, I think most people feel like this at some point and if it's not fun it's not worth doing. Saying that you might feel differently in a while so please don't delete your blog! I think blogging ebbs and flows, I've struggled over this summer but I know in later autumn things will settle and I'll get back into a blogging routine, so I'm just ticking over until that time comes. The thing I find hard actually is finding time to reply to comments etc, and I am so far behind in my blog reading I feel quite guilty. Daft really. I hope your 'mojo' comes back, or not, whichever works best for you. Oh and for me, when I haven't blogged for a while, I almost find it difficult to start again, I almost have to force myself to write a couple of short posts then I get back into it, it's different though as I blog to support my online shop as well as to chat to on-line 'friends' so I do need to keep it going. Had to put the annoying word verification back on as the spam was getting silly. Forgive me! Ali
